I'm running the 2019 London Marathon for Leukaemia Care, so I can help support people facing blood cancer!
As many may know, this one is a personal one for me as my Dad, Piers Hitchcock, died as result of a Leukaemia battle just a day after his 39th birthday. Now I have children of my own and get ever closer to the age my father died, I am more often reminded of this loss and how precious life really is. I'd like to channel this into something positive, something that would make my Dad proud, and hopefully make my girls proud too.
SO - I am going to run 26+ miles across London, and try to raise £2500 for Leukaemia Care to help other sufferers and their families. Every 20 minutes in the UK someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. A stat that'll stick in my mind whilst I grind out those miles.
I am an occasional runner. I've done one half marathon (and dodged another 2 I had booked), but otherwise nothing that gets close to this distance. It definitely won't be a walk in the park and I'll be putting in the hours to try to finish in under 4 hours.
I will hugely appreciate any sponsorship, however large or small that helps me hit that target.
Thank you - and wish me luck. It'll be a long winter :)
